Biddenden Vineyards – Warm weather brings a good fruit set

Although the vineyard walks remain closed to visitors, work in the vineyard continues!

The warm weather has meant growth has been good and the fruit has set well. Over the last few years we have planted a number of new vineyards, including Bacchus, Reichensteiner & Ortega and we are trialling new growing systems with the aim of maximising both quality & quantity when it comes to harvest time. Over the last couple of weeks our team have been out leaf stripping, which allows good air circulation to promote good health and minimise risk of disease, and we’ve also been working with S J Barnes to machine leaf strip, making it a much less labour intensive job. We’ll be monitoring results into harvest, which usually commences towards the end of September.

Our vineyard shop is currently open Wednesday - Saturday as an off licence for our full range of wines, ciders & juices as well as lots of local & artisan products. Please note, all food & drink bought must be consumed off site. We also continue to offer home delivery throughout Kent & the UK via or website at www.biddendenvineyards.com or by calling 01580 291726.
