Since Herbert & Ward were founded in 1925, we’ve witnessed the struggles of post-Great War Britain, the pain of The Second World War, the fright of The Cold War and the rise and fall of the USSR. We’ve toiled through depression and recession from ‘The Great Slump’ of the 1930’s to the Great Recession of the early 2000’s, and then, in 2020 another challenge appeared.

The impact of Coronavirus demanded us and our beloved wholesale business to be even more versatile, as we immediately took the decision to emotionally and professionally support our existing customers but also realised that we could support the people who were in isolation or working from home, orientating our service from a business to business retailer to an efficient home-delivery coffee service as well. When we promptly made this transition, we made one goal very clear to ourselves, that we would do so without compromising the competence of our service or the quality of our products. Now, thanks to this, the fantastic reputation we had for our coffees, teas and our service with our café and wholesale customers has now been able to grow to the home market for retail coffee, all thanks to the fantastic reviews left by our new retail customers.
