Herne Bay In Bloom has been in the town for many years and has had some wonderful achievements and won many awards but has perhaps become a little low key over the last few years.

However HBIB is back with a vengeance and bursting with inspiration and enthusiasm. There are four main planting areas in the town and these are The Sea Street Roundabout, The Community Kitchen Garden in the Herne Bay Memorial Park, the planting area by the Neptune Car Park and the bed to the side of the Barnes Wallis statue near the Kings Hall. All these areas are being tackled this year and a great start has been made by the Sea Street Roundabout which has been awarded second place in the Best Roundabouts in the UK 2020 competition and also landed the month of June.page in the United Kingdom Roundabout Appreciation Society’s 2021 calendar.

The Community Kitchen Garden has also had a recent boost with the addition of dedicated new plot holders who are working alongside the existing loyal plot holders. Fundraising has started in earnest and a recent open day raised over £100 through sales and cash donations and this was further boosted with a pledge of £100 from Cain’s Amusements. A total of £750 is needed to make urgent repairs to the plot that is used by the local Poppy Centre and Avenue Nursery but we are off to a good start! The purpose of the garden in to bring the joy of gardening to all ages and abilities and for the enjoyment of the residents of and visitors to Herne Bay
