Local business expands to support post-pandemic wellbeing

This Wednesday (5 August), The Spa at Green Farm will reopen fully. It has been a long few months and it’s an understatement to say we have missed you.

The coronavirus pandemic has hit some companies hard, but one local business has chosen this time to expand.

Three new therapists have joined the team at the nature-inspired Spa at Green Farm in Shadoxhurst, near Ashford. Sharron Hawkins, Suzanne Dixon and Molly Dutton will work alongside Kirsty Bidault and Helen Arslan at the boutique wellness venue.

The larger spa team will enable Green Farm to further develop its already popular wellbeing retreats and spa experiences.

Maryann Richmond-Coggan, who owns Green Farm with her husband Martin, believes firmly in the power of nature and has created a programme of events and activities designed to help guests step away from the overwhelming pace of their daily lives and get back to basics.

The pair has seen demand grow since the coronavirus lockdown has lifted.

Maryann said: “The last few months have given some of us time to think about what our minds and bodies need. Many of our guests have stressful jobs and very busy lives. Some literally lock their phones away and spend hours in our ancient woodland, breathing in the fresh country air and listening to the sound of the wildlife around them.”

Green Farm’s retreats combine energising and restorative yoga sessions with woodland exercise classes, hikes through the Kent countryside, relaxing spa treatments and meals made with produce grown on the estate’s farm.

Maryann added: “Some treat their time with us as respite, but for others, their stay marks the start of them making positive changes in their lives.”

Alongside the nature-inspired boutique spa, the Green Farm estate in Shadoxhurst comprises a 15th century farmhouse offering individually designed rooms, a luxury holiday barn, a small farm with grass-fed cattle, sheep and other livestock, and a community wildlife garden. Green Farm is surrounded by traditional meadows and 12,500 acres of ancient woodland.

The size and layout of Green Farm enables social distancing to be easily maintained and the team adheres to government regulations and public health advice.
