We grow a range of gourmet mushrooms in Bearsted and Coxheath just outside of Maidstone. We sell on the day of harvest for maximum freshness and nutritional value. Any not sold that day we make into an extensive range of mushroom products.
Loving mushrooms as much as we do, has driven us to be very inventive so we don’t waste a single one. We are really proud of being a zero waste mushroom company. We even dry our butts (mushroom butts that is) as they have such an umami * hit, we dry and grind them, for our umami seasoning a blend of seaweed, mushrooms and sea salt.
We have Great Taste Award-winning ‘Rosie’s Vegan Mushroom Jerky’, our delicious ‘Seasoned Mushroom Crisps’, as well as our easy-to-use Ramen and Risotto Meal Kits. Our popular dried shiitakes make for a wonderfully dark rich mushroomy broth and our Pioppinis are perfect for that Pasta con Fungi. All our products are available to buy in our online shop, at selected markets and through Kent Food Hubs.
We always want to share our love of mushrooms, so we created our exotic mushroom grow boxes, guaranteed to grow or receive a free replacement. For those wanting more mushroom growing knowledge we even run mushroom growing courses for the hobbyist or would-be professional.
While all of our products are plant based, 75% of our customers are actually just mushroom lovers! If you think you or your company would be a good fit with ours - whether a restaurant, retail or other service industry, please do get in touch and help us share the mushroom love.
Notes on the health benefits of mushrooms
During these unprecedented times when many of us are looking for healthier ways to feed ourselves and our families, mushrooms offer a unique combination of good quality protein, fibre, beta-glucans and antioxidants, while being exceptionally low in calories. They contain riboflavin, B-2 folate, B-9 thiamine, B-1 pantothenic acid, B-5 niacin, B-3 vitamin C and D as well as the powerful antioxidants selenium, vitamin C and Choline, which supports the immune system and prevents damage to cells and tissues. *
There is emerging evidence that consuming a type of fibre called beta-glucans may lower blood cholesterol levels. In particular, certain varieties of mushrooms have been shown to have potential in protecting against cancer by protecting our cells against DNA damage but also inhibiting tumour formation. There is also evidence that they appear to be beneficial in the treatment and management of neurodegenerative disease such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. *
We believe that mushrooms are the oldest superfood, and we are only now starting to understand and appreciate the extensive health and medicinal benefits of these tiny little gifts of nature.
