Since lockdown our Commercial Restaurant McLeods at Medway has been supporting the Gillingham Street Angels, with preparing over 300 meals per week for those in need in our local community, which has had a huge impact on not only residents, but our McLeods team and curriculum staff who have all been involved in this fantastic initiative. We have enjoyed building relationships and giving back to our community.

More recently we have more recently been able to develop our own takeaway menu for staff as well as being open to the public, which has allowed us to welcome back some familiar and new faces to our restaurant.

We are looking to launch in September with support from Medway Council our own Chatty Café in our restaurant which is something we are really excited about, to continue to give back to our community and continue with the collaborative working we have become accustomed to during this pandemic.

Oaks at Maidstone, which is normally a hive of activity as our students main canteen area has taken on a new approach, to supporting those in need in Maidstone with providing a foodbank service which has built from referrals and word of mouth in the local area. The team have regular users as well as new referrals each week from local council and supported living services, and has given them a real purpose during these times and they will continue to offer this service in the future.
